Frequently asked

Quick answers to the things we hear most often.

Where is my meeting audio stored?
On your Mac. Audio is captured and transcribed entirely on-device, and only ever syncs through your own private iCloud — it never touches a MeetingMemo server.
Do I need an AI provider to use MeetingMemo?
Recording and on-device transcription work on their own — no key, no setup. For AI summaries, action items, and chat you have two options: run them on-device with the free Ollama app (nothing leaves your Mac, no key needed), or connect your own cloud provider key (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, and others) — then only the text transcript is sent to the provider you choose, never the audio, and your key stays in your Keychain. With neither set up, MeetingMemo still records and keeps the raw transcript; AI is simply off.
MeetingMemo doesn't see my Ollama models — what do I check?
Three things: the Ollama app is installed and running, you've downloaded at least one model (for example, run "ollama pull qwen3" in Terminal), and then press Refresh in Settings → AI Summaries → On-device. MeetingMemo lists whatever models Ollama has installed. For reliable summaries, pick the largest model your Mac runs well — the app warns you if the selected one is too small.
Does MeetingMemo sync between my Macs?
Yes. Meetings, transcripts, action items, and audio sync across your Macs automatically through your own private iCloud (CloudKit). With no iCloud account, everything stays local-only on that Mac.
How does the trial and pricing work?
Every feature is free for 30 days. After that, MeetingMemo is $29/year via the Mac App Store, with Family Sharing for up to 6. Trials, billing, and refunds are handled by Apple — we never see your payment details.
What macOS versions are supported?
MeetingMemo requires macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later, on Apple Silicon Macs.
Is there a Windows, iPhone, or iPad version?
Not at the moment. MeetingMemo is built as a native Mac app so recording and transcription can run entirely on-device.
